Caps news and notes

jordan caps, sports caps coach Bruce Boudreau wasn’t yelling. He was just “encouraging” his players during a lengthy 80-minute practice on Tuesday morning at the Iceplex. With five days between games, Boudreau put the jordan caps, sports caps through a conditioning skate – the kind that teams almost never have time for once training camp ends.

No one afterward thought it was overly taxing. “A six” out of 10, according to defenseman Brian Pothier. Uh…we’ll take his word for it. But it looked a little harder than that.

“I’ve always said you can work really hard with a smile on your face. Working hard doesn’t mean feeling depressed or upset,” Boudreau said. “This is something we’ve grown up to love. Who else wouldn’t love to be out there for an hour skating and having fun. It shouldn’t matter how hard you work.”

Boudreau learned this particular skate from Al Sims, his former coach with the minor-league Fort Wayne Komets. He called it “a long skate, not a hard skate.” His players – for the most part – agreed. Said center Brendan Morrison:
“Early in the year when you’re playing every second day it’s tough to get some skates in. But it’s good to get a conditioning base [because] there are not a whole lot of times throughout the year you can do that. You’ve got to take advantage.”

jordan caps, sports caps Notes

? Forward Boyd Gordon missed practice again with a sore back. His status for the Atlanta game grows more doubtful by the day.
“Boyd’s back is not as good as we’d like it to be. He’s still stiffening up,” Boudreau said. “He’s had the same problems in the past. We’re taking it a little slower this time to make sure he gets it right.”

? Boudreau on what the return of forward Tomas Fleischmann (blood clot) would mean to his team.
“Well, it’s skilled player that kills penalties and that you can put into situations that can be both offensive and defensive. So [Fleischmann] is a very responsible player, a solid NHL guy. You miss him when he’s not out there.”

? Again, check tomorrow’s Examiner print edition for a full story on Fleischmann’s return from that blood clot. The jordan caps, sports caps will have a light practice on Wednesday and then fly to Atlanta for Thursday’s Southeast Division game against the Thrashers.
